The shadows she saw on the lawn inspired her to work for months on the technique that, in contrast did not portray the chosen object on canvas. Instead, the object is transformed into a re-creation of itself in which the painting transforms into the medium for it's individual interpretation of the subject, particularly when the subject is live or perishable objects, such as people or fruits. Alexa's style of painting is one of ephemeral, and only photos of her work remain. Photographs and painting are coordinated to create a flat two-dimensional surface that is a trompe l'oeil. In certain places, three dimensions are observed, such as near the eye or the hair. Meade frequently integrates her paintings in the 3D world surrounding her. They interact within the world she has created for herself. This way, the line between painting and photography is removed.
