Nichols worked as a journalist with TNT during this period, covering NBA broadcasts, including playoff games, regular season games or All-Star teams. Alongside the reporting on TBS and TNT, she also reported on baseball and golf broadcasts and Final Four on CBS. Through the history of 42 years of the award, it was the only time a woman had been among the 200+ nominees.
